Open mic night

Let your opinions be known!
Okay, so allow me to wipe off that egg on my face, hold on one sec.................

Alrighty, I'm back. Of course I'm talking about the now infamous Weinergate scandle and how my last post said how I thought he was hacked and pranked. Well let me recant that statement.....

OOPS!

No matter how you spin it, it has been a shitty week for the Democratic party. I'd argue the worst week we've had politically since the November election. It all started with the corporate medias joygasm to the Anthony Weiner "scandal". My views on this are I think he was hacked and pranked.HE CLEARLY IS IN THE WRONG AND IS LYING ABOUT IT TO US ALL, DO YOU REALLY THINK I'D BELIEVE SUCH A CREEP? HOW DARE YOU! But even if it was true does it really matter? Who cares what people do in there private lives! I saw the apparent photo and it's pretty G rated when compared to shit I see on blogger!I BET YOU THERE'S EVEN MORE BAD PHOTOS OF THIS SLEAZY SCUM BAG, JUST WAIT! BWAHAHAHAHAAAA But Weiner has taken a hit with this and I've liked him through the years, he's been a great liberal voice in national debates BUT NOW HE'S JUST ANOTHER LYING POLITICIAN, WHAT A FUCKING BUMMER HUH!?!

There, now that's more like it! Anyways I was wrong and it's not the first or last time! Just ask my wife, my mother, my daughter, or really anybody who knows me how wrong I usually am!:)D

But this whole thing has inspired a new segment I wanna do. And since we have some new followers I want to reiterate our open dialogue goal. Always feel free to leave comments, opinions, feedback, or funny stories to any post we ever do. You will be responded to by either myself or the reverend! Plus this blog will always be THE place to be on days like today when something big, or scandalous, or whatever happens in the world of politics so visit frequently!

With that I introduce "Open Mic Night". It will be where I give my opinion on current events on the day and then leave the mic to you! The great thing with being a liberal progressive is we all don't have to automatically fall in line with each other or else! Like the conservatives do. I bet you ask any liberal his or her opinion on this Weinergate thing and each one of them will have a different take.

Mine is, what a scum bag! I liked this guy and what bugs me the most is not what he did personally, but the fact that he lied about it to every body! As I said before, what politicians do in there personal lives is no concern to me, you, or anybody as long as they don't abuse their power in any way. If Weiner had just come out and fessed up to it I would have respected him for that. But he pulled a John Edwards about it and tried to cover it up and lie his way through it. I myself, have zero respect for that.

Now it's your turn, what do you think, let me know and I'll even post your comments on my next post! I now turn the mic over to you guys, just please, show respect etc, etc.............................

  1. I think that a lot of people with power think they won't get "found out". Maybe all the power goes to their head.

But I also think that the Fame Whore Palin, is such a stupid beotch. She makes womankind look just as stupid and dumb and the men who are sexting. Honestly, give me a break.

  2. I think he committed political suicide by not admitting it. I don't care what he does in his personal time as long as it's legal, but to lie about it is stupid. If you are going to do something, be big enough to say you did it.

  3. See, I'm a little bit confused here, but I'll admit that I haven't been following the story terribly close. Didn't he send the pics to a girl on his twitter following? The last I heard she said something along the lines of her not knowing him, she just followed him on twitter- So wasn't sending her (and apparently other women on his list) the pictures somewhat illegal (depending on the pics, I haven't seen them)? It could get into a borderline sexual harassment area- depending on the pics and if these women wanted to see them.
Even if he had confessed right away to posting the pics, I don't think his career would fair much better. The US public has shown themselves to be extremely prudish in matters like these.

  4. It's such a shame that a politician with such an unusual amount of chutzpah had to turn out to be such an idiot stick!

  5. At least he's not trying to destroy Medicare... That's all I got. That's it. I'm deeply saddened to lose his voice in Congress, but unfortunately now he's just the guy who tweeted his penis and lied about it. What a waste.

You guys have got to get Disqus on this blog.

  6. @Dazee, Palin for President!
    @Rev, I concur.
@Wit, The public definately is prudish with this kind of thing. While I agree that it could have been a form of sexual harassment(Pelosi's actually called for an investigation on him)

I do think if he came out and fessed up to it, he might have come out okay. Like back when Letterman had his sexual scandal, he came out and grabbed the bull by the horns and fessed up to it, no body even remembers that now. Same thing.....maybe, I see your point though, thanks for the comment!:)
@Amy, It truly is a shame, I loved this guy at one point, as recently as this morning:(
@Jayne, we'll look in to it, it's hard to find time, eventually we will, be patient my fellow progressive,:) Please keep commenting in the mean time though! We love to hear from you.

  7. Found you through Jayne. I LOVE your edit above. Very funny, even in a sad and disgusted moment such as this.

I found your other blog too and wanted to comment on the college post but couldn't figure out how. But I just wanna say that it's possible you didn't apply yourself in school because a) you were bored or b) you were rebellious or c) all of the above. :-) Whatever the case, you obviously have brains and now that this is your life (versus a life controlled by parents and other authorities. well, there still is the FBI but just pretend they aren't there), you could look at college as FUN - a way to learn cool stuff (while having to learn some boring stuff) and create a new expanded, limitless life for yourself. Do it! Have fun! (I say this as a former bored rebel in HS and a college-dropout so I have auth-or-i-TAY). xoxoxoxo

  8. Thank you Lisa and welcome! I love that I'm speaking to a Paris girl! This is awesome.:)

Thanks for visiting my other blog, it's pretty neglected because I spend my time and energy on this one. I took away the comment format due to some bullying I'd received and didn't want to hear it anymore.

Thank you Lisa for the kind words and I hope you visit often and let us know your opinions on our posts! Even when you disagree with us.:D

  9. Who cares what they do in their personal lives. If we are going to put him under the microscope, then we should be putting all congressmen under it. I doubt there would be one of them with a clean slate. People make mistakes, move on. It has nothing to do with how good of a representative he can be. In my opinion anyways...
And as for him lying about it... Get over it people! He's a politician. Name one that doesn't.

  10. @Virgil: I can see your point about coming clean, but in Leno's case he is a celebrity so people expect, tolerate and even encourage a bit of that behavior in his group. The public likes to see their elected officials as a reflection of the "supposed" values in society (not that those values are actually practiced in society, but the public likes to think they are).
I don't particularly care what my politicians do behind closed doors, so long as it is between consenting adults and get sick of hearing about who is sleeping with who, or who is doing what with whatever. The media makes it a much bigger deal than it ever has to be.

  11. @Brandon, Bernie Sanders! Thanks man!:)

@Wit, I agree that celebrities are exempt from public outcry, my point was that Weiner was a celebrity of sorts among political junkies such as myself and might have had at least a better chance at surviving this had he just come clean like Letterman did back in '08. Thanks for your input though, I love back and forth discussions so please, always comment what you think!

  14. I'm moving again so I apologize for my disappearing act. This Weiner debacle is unfortunately another example of a good person doing stupid career breaking things. While I don't care about what a politician does in his personal life....I don't like lying, and I'm not a fan of sexual harassment. Another voice lost for those who are powerless. What a pity.
