Cover Them Ladies Up!

                                                        (Yes that is David Archuleta)

So I know I'm a little late and this article has been out for quite some time, but it still really annoys me so I'm going to write about it anyway! Y'all are just gonna have to deal.

A couple weeks ago LZ Granderson wrote an article called Parents, Don't Let Your Girls Dress Like Tramps. Here is a link http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/04/19/granderson.children.dress/index.html?hpt=C2

First off I would just like to say I think little girls should dress in age appropriate attire and we should not be sexualizing them at all, but this article pissed me off!!! Why does he think it's OK to call any woman of any age a tramp, let alone little girls?

Once you start using words like tramp or slut in regards to a lady you are only seeing her for the clothes she wears.  All people wear things to be noticed. May that be wearing skin tight short-shorts or a cute floral dress. We need to start looking past that because its not what matters! Some may argue that in order to avoid being judged in that way a girl should cover up. Here's the thing though, covering everything up will not fix the problem. In fact is only makes it worse! Once you make dressing "immodest" taboo it becomes the sole thing people focus on!

What we need to do is teach our youth to be good people and have confidence in themselves, but those lessons should not be taught by telling them to cover up. That is just like telling them their bodies are all people care about and want. Which does create shame and abhorring feeling toward the human body!

The message that is being sent to the female, especially in Utah, is that her sole purpose is to attract a mate and to bear children rather than valuing them for what they contribute to the work force, educational community or politics. We do not value males for the condition of their bodies... do we? Why do we make that distinction for our young women?

Calling a girl a tramp is the worst kind of label you could give her. You have no idea what kind of person she is, she may be the sweetest, most untramp like person. Just because someone dresses modest doesn't mean they are automatically the most delightful person. I know many girls who dress modest and are miserable human beings, but I had to get to know them before I came to that conclusion. Clothing is a superficial standard to judge someones character and the exposure or under exposure of skin is an unfair measure of someones worth. You also further draconian ideals that originated over 4,000 years ago that were designed to oppress women and to keep them in their "place".

The point I'm getting at is the clothes don't make the person and we need to stop focusing on them like they do! Character matters and that cannot accurately be measured by the square inches of skin that are showing. We avoid sexualizing our young women by emphasizing their positive character traits in much the same way we already do with the young men! So don't use hateful words to judge, because the only thing you are doing is propelling society backwards when we should be advancing forward!

RIGHT WING TALKING POINTS THAT THE PUBLIC HAS BOUGHT IN TO AND IT MAKES ME WANT TO THROW UP!

TOP 5 FRIDAY WILL BE A SEGMENT I DO EVERY FRIDAY THAT WILL BE A TOP 5 COUNTDOWN TO VARIOUS TOPICS AND SUBJECTS. WHETHER IT BE THINGS THAT ANNOYED ME ALL WEEK LONG, OR FAVORITE MOVIES, OR POLITICAL SATIRE. EVERY FRIDAY YOU WILL GET A TOP 5 FRIDAY LIST!

TODAY'S TOP 5 FRIDAY : RIGHT WING TALKING POINTS THAT THE PUBLIC HAS BOUGHT IN TO AND IT MAKES ME WANT T
O THROW UP!

5-"GOVERNMENT IS NOT THE SOL
UTION TO OUR PROBLEMS, GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM."

The most pessimistic, depressing, discouraging words ever uttered by a U.S. president. Clint Reaganwood told this to the country the moment he was sworn in to office in 1980 and America's morale has limped on ever since. No I wasn't born yet but I do know the devastating result of telling your countrymen who are in a deep recession(much like now) that,"Your government is this terrible, horrible, evil entity from the planet Washington D.C. and is not to be trusted." Ever since that dreary day America has drifted ever further to the radical right! To the point that it is just part of our social identity:
  • Big Government=bad
  • low taxes=good
  • unions=bad
  • corporate welfare=good
  • protest=bad
  • conformity=good
  • liberal=bad
  • conservative=good
As much as I hate the teapublican way of thinking they sure do one hell of a good job at brain washing society in to falling in line with their way of thinking. As much as the far left's notion that," government knows all and is your bestest pal in the whole wide world" is laughable. So to is the far rights notion that,"government is inherently bad and is your enemy waiting to destroy you." We live in a time where shock jocks are considered actual journalists and journalists try to act like shock jocks. Stay puft, Huxley, and glennis the menace are todays Walter Cronkite's. They continuously push society to the right and hijack every social arguments to fit there own agendas. That Clint Reaganwood was right, government sucks! And that damn Obama is a socialist for wanting government to work for people and make a difference in their lives for the better. Isn't that awful?

4-DRILL BABY DRILL!
Really? Seriously? Ya more drilling is going to solve our dependence and addiction to oil. It isn't oil company propaganda, not at all! You're crazy. This saying is code for," oil companies know best and alternative energy sources are j
ust plain evil!" Now I understand that oil whether you like it or not, is here to stay(until we run out). No other energy source even comes close to competing with the energy oil produces. But does this mean that we should just accept being at the mercy of the oil companies? Does anybody even care that oil prices will continue to go up? Does anybody even care that the oil companies are the most profitable industry in the history of man kind yet they continue to get millions of dollars of tax payer subsidies?

When Sarah the Palin uttered these words during the last election I laughed to myself thinking, nobody will buy this. I mean think of how gitty with joy Wienerschnitzel would be if ,"chili cheese dogs baby, chili cheese dogs!" became a national rallying cry to solve our countries obesity problem! Yet we as a dumbed down society have bought in to this idiotic right winged, corporate propaganda! And it makes me have to run to the toilet right now and puke my guts out so hold on a minute, I'll be right back.

3-THE MORE YOU MAKE, THE MOR
E UNCLE SAM TAKE.
This is code for" The government is a bad, bad entity that steals your hard earned money away from you!" Look I hate taxes just like most everybody else but that's the price we pay to live in this great, great country we live in. So what? We're all proud to be an American until we have to invest in America? It's like going to your favorite restaurant and enjoying your favorite meal and then being pissed off at having to pay for the great food and service you enjoyed.(I'm well aware that happens often but you see my point.)Plus imagine if we all got what we wanted and we all were no longer taxed ever never again! Ahhh, yes, no more taxes. No more:
  1. social security
  2. medicare
  3. medicaid
  4. freeways
  5. law-enforcement
  6. jails and prisons
  7. social programs
  8. social transportation
  9. libraries
  10. postal service
  11. military
  12. national parks
  13. debt relief programs
  14. schools
  15. mental help facilities
  16. president of the Untied States of America
  17. House of Representatives
  18. Senate
  19. Supreme Court
  20. Laws
  21. States
  22. the list could literally go on and on and on
So anyways, as much as we all hate being taxed, it is necessary for us to enjoy living in the society that took generations to build. If you hate being taxed and want to live in a government free society, move to one! See how long you can last.

2-SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!
Now before you all have a heart attack just know that I could never be brave enough to do the things that our troops do. I simply could not leave my family to another country for months or even years with the possibility of not coming home alive. I am supportive of my fellow county men and women who serve over seas and am in awe of them. With that said, America, you all seem to have such a hard on for troops! I mean my god! What support our troops really is saying is, "support the rigid old war mongers who recklessly throw our brave soldiers in to unnecessary, unending, bankrupting wars without a plan to get out!"Any argument, criticism, or questions of the current wars are immediately met with,"support out troops!"from the radical right or even just society in general.

Should we really be going to war wit, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! But Iraq had nothing to do with nine elev, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! Can we afford th, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! What about the, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! I've got news for you Teapublicans, WAR DOES NOT ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING CONSTRUCTIVE! We're no longer in the olden days when war was necessary to keep other countries from invading. I do think that we need weapons and a military to tell other countries to not mess with us! But going in to other countries guns a blazin' will never solve anything! This is one of my few sore spots with Obama, get the hell out of Iraq and Afghanistan! I supported his move with Libia but I hope he doesn't listen to dear John and increase our presence there! Lets get in and stop genocide from happening and get the hell out. We're not the world's police! Support our troops is one of the most vile, evil, god awful sayings that have ever been created by the war happy warlords on the radical right! And who ever buys in to this saying is either naive and uninformed, or a war happy bully. As good as the words support our troops sounds, it is not at all being supportive of our men and women fellow Americans who serve their country. It's being supportive of the rigid old men who have their own twisted propaganda and use our fellow citizens as pawns to accomplish their means.

This saying has been such a sore spot for me for such a long time. I even tried to embrace it at one point thinking that I was the problem, not the saying. But the second you buy in to this truly awful saying, you're giving up your voice to the rich, powerful, and corrupt. Why isn't their a national rallying cry for

  • support our stay at home moms!
  • support our working class!
  • support our teachers!
  • support our counselors!
  • support our single parents!
  • support the voiceless!
  • support our firemen and police!
  • support the ones who are without hope!
  • support our unsung heroes!
Why don't they and so many more people who are equally heroic, brave, noble, and honorable get a national rallying cry? And don't tell me "Well Virgil, they chose their profession and don't have to put their lives at risk every day like our troops do." I say bull shit to that! Believe it or not the troops who are currently serving chose to serve in the armed forces just like anybody else chooses their own respective profession. These people are in just as much danger, heartache, gut wrenching situations as our brave soldiers are. So why don't they have a national rallying cry like the troops do?........

Because they don't have the rich and powerful using them as pawns to achieve what they so desire more than anything else, more riches, and more power.

1-LETS TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!

This is code for," we are a white christian, gun toting, homophobic, racist country and god damn those who think otherwise! This country isn't theirs it's ours!" Whenever I hear this saying I feel sick to my stomach! And this may not have topped my list a few years or even a year ago! But this was the rallying cry from the Republican party in the 2010 midterm elections and guess what? Society as a whole bought it! The Republican party destroyed the Democratic party in the voting booth by crying lets take our country back! I work with people who are convinced that diversity is bad and unwelcome. I work with people who have disdain and yes, hatred for people who:
  • aren't white
  • eat veggies
  • drive Eco-friendly cars
  • vote other than Republican
  • are open minded
  • treat woman with respect
  • believe in government as a good thing
  • believe that cruelty to animals is wrong and immoral
  • watch movies that aren't macho
  • drink Shasta
  • eat veggies(I know I've already listed this but you have no idea how much shit I get when I eat something that isn't meat or chips for lunch)
  • speak different languages
  • practice non-Mormon religion
  • protest against corporations
  • try hard to be honest and just
  • are gay or lesbian
  • don't like the same sports teams they like
  • don't like the same TV shows they like
  • don't like guns
  • celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day
  • celebrate Earth day
  • the list goes on and on really but you get my point!
These are loud and proud Tea-partier republicans who have mock dollar bills in their desks that feature President Obama as a Muslim dictator. They think and feel from a place of hate and fear and want nothing to do with anyone who dares think differently than them. This is not who we are as a country! Lets take our country back! is something members of the KKK shouts at rallies! Take our county back to what?? The civil war? Segregation?? Jim Crow?? McCarthyism?? If times were so great back then, why did it change? And don't give me the ludicrous, ridiculous, moronic excuse that," oh, it's those damn liberals! Those liberals who hate 'Merica did it!" It changed because our parents and grandparents fought hard battles to get us to where we are now! Do we have work to do? Hell yes? Do we want to go back to the 1950's? Fuck no!

Let's take our country back! is a far cry from JFK. "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Let's take back our country! is,"ask not what you can do for your country, expect your country to hate like you do." I am grateful to the generations before me who gave their blood, sweat, and tears to make this country what it is today. I'm grateful that I didn't have to grow up in constant fear that I wasn't racist enough, or Christian enough, or Capitalist enough, or Chauvinist enough. If you weren't a white, Christian, racist, man in the olden days life sucked for you! You were mocked, belittled, beaten, hung, whipped, owned, or killed! Let's take our country back to that? No thanks.

This country is where it is today because heroes were killed, hearts were broken, blood was spilled, and politically tough legislation was passed. I don't want to hear "Lets take our country back!" ever again! I want to hear "Lets move our country forward!"...........

Poorly Handled

I recently got linked this article. Please read it, since the rest of this post won't make any sense if you don't. Read it? Good.

First, a disclaimer: I hate the Westboro Baptist Church.
that said, here we go.

First, I found the abuses of police power to be appalling. Rounding up what few protesters did make it to be questioned about a crime they may have committed, and holding them just long enough for the funeral to commence. Or the fact that their wreckers were 'behind' and couldn't tow the illegally parked trucks until after the funeral was over, and by then the owners had moved them.

Secondly, the town engaged in bullying behavior. They beat the crap out of one of the protesters, then sat around being 'unable to remember' what happened when the police showed up. They intimidated the guy, then the police questioned him in front of the culprits. Of course he wasn't going to point out who did it. Then they think it's OK to abuse the law and illegally park their trucks in the way, and use the police to round up any protesters that did show up. It wasn't bravery they showed or respect they deserve. They were malicious bullies who should be shown contempt for their actions.

The Westboro Baptist Church is a hateful group of people, and I dislike them very much, but they have every right to protest on public property. This kind of bullshit effectively stripped them of their 1st amendment rights, and yet the people of Brandon, Mississippi are being hailed as heroes. Why? What they did was reprehensible. There is appropriate and inappropriate ways to deal with these kinds of things, and they were more than inappropriate. If you want to handle the situation well, counter protest. Protest the Westboro Baptist Church by their churches, places of business, schools, etc. It's entirely legal and appropriate to protest anything you want on public land. Go out and do that! It's more effective and better than being a bunch of dumb hick bullies who abuse the system to get their way.

Meet the Authors Part 3: Kate the Cursed

Shalom everyone! My name is Kate and I'm super excited to be part of this band of liberalism!!! Its truly an honor to be the first female author of this blog! I was truly touched when my brother (The Reverend) asked me to share my voice with all of you!

Now my back story isn't cool. There are no motorcycles involved or anything like that. However, there are plenty of burrito stealing pirate ninjas... I'll tell you about that some other time.

My name comes from Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. In the play Kate is a very strong willed individual and doesn't want societies agenda forced upon her. I am very much the same way! I have a very hard time with social injustice. May that be sexism, racism, homophobia or intolerance of other people in general. If you practice any of the aforementioned subjects, you and I have a problem! I look forward to hearing your views and opinions!
Love,
      Kate

In God We Trust(To Divide)

It's true, and it's unfortunate. 'In God We Trust' is the official national motto. It was codified into federal law in the early 50's, during the McCarthy era, while America was doing everything in its power to separate themselves from the godless reds.

If you talk to most people on the street they will tell you they are completely fine with this. The phrase is printed on money, and the majority of people believe in the deity. This presents a problem for me, not just because I am an atheist, but because it is wholly un-American. The phrase is divisive and unconstitutional.

The average American will tell you this a democracy. The majority of people like the motto, or truly believe it NEEDS to be our motto (This being a Christian nation and all), and that because the majority wants it, it needs to be so. But they forget this is not a pure democracy, this is a democratic republic with safeguards to prevent this kind of thing. The tyranny of the majority.  For whatever reason the people of this country think if the majority wants it, it must happen. Nothing can be further from the truth. The Constitution has rules in it to prevent the minority from being obliterated.

One of those rules is freedom of religion. As Americans we have the right to choose our own religion, and not have others force theirs on us. We also have the right to have freedom from religion, because you can't have true freedom of religious choice if you can't abstain from making that choice. The state is not allowed to favor one religion over another, or religion over non religion. For all intents and purposes, the state is atheist. Our motto is purely unconstitutional.

The motto is also divisive. I have to live in a country that bombards me with 'You have all these great freedoms!', then goes ahead and endorses religion over non-religion. Am I a second class citizen? Does the state not respect my choices? Slightly dramatic questions, sure, but valid. Add on top of that the people who insist this motto is protected, special, and anyone who disagrees isn't American. They ignore the whole 'freedom of religion' thing, and say if you aren't their color of Christian, you are not American.

What I don't understand is why we can't go back to E Pluribus Unum. It was never codified as the official motto, but it was inclusive to all. Out of many, one. What could be a more American sentiment? Out of all the cultures, religions, races, and orientations we have in this great country, we come together. We stand united. We overcome those petty differences and make something great. This is a motto everyone can stand behind. This is what it truly is to be American, to be part of the melting pot.

My question to all this is, why can't America include all of its citizens, not just the majority?

We barely have a voice as it is even with Obama in the white house, we all need to make our voices heard in this media frenzied, tea party, corporate interest atmosphere we live in right now; And by god, we will be heard!!! Or if your an Athiest..........BY DARN!

The Utah Compact And Immigration

Most of the time I hate being associated with the state I live in. I was born and raised in Utah, but I dislike the social atmosphere that persists here. Imagine my surprise, however, when I heard about the Utah Compact. The Utah Compact it a set of principles set up by religious, political, and business leaders here in Utah to attempt to deal realistically with illegal immigration. The principles are as follows,

1.FEDERAL SOLUTIONS Immigration is a federal policy issue between the U.S. government and other countries—not Utah and other countries. We urge Utah’s congressional delegation, and others, to lead efforts to strengthen federal laws and protect our national borders. We urge state leaders to adopt reasonable policies addressing immigrants in Utah.
2.LAW ENFORCEMENT  We respect the rule of law and support law enforcement’s professional judgment and discretion. Local law enforcement resources should focus on criminal activities, not civil violations of federal code.
3.FAMILIES  Strong families are the foundation of successful communities. We oppose policies that unnecessarily separate families. We champion policies that support families and improve the health, education and well-being of all Utah children.
4.ECONOMY  Utah is best served by a free-market philosophy that maximizes individual freedom and opportunity. We acknowledge the economic role immigrants play as workers and taxpayers. Utah’s immigration policies must reaffirm our global reputation as a welcoming and business-friendly state.
5.A FREE SOCIETY  Immigrants are integrated into communities across Utah. We must adopt a humane approach to this reality, reflecting our unique culture, history and spirit of inclusion. The way we treat immigrants will say more about us as a free society and less about our immigrant neighbors. Utah should always be a place that welcomes people of goodwill.

Holy shit! This was made in Utah? There is no way this thing made its way into law. Oh, wait, yes it did. Utah lately passed many immigration reform laws. I was personally flabbergasted. But beyond my amazement was a tinge of pride. Pride that Utah was actually doing something a little progressive.

Personally, I don't think illegal immigration is a horrible crime. Even if they aren't paying income tax and all that fun stuff, they are paying sales tax on the things they buy, they are providing labor, etc. Yes, it's illegal, but it is no worse a crime to society than jaywalking or stealing supplies from the office. I also believe we need to do things that make it easier to immigrate here legally.

My main problem with the immigration debate is the overt, and covert, racism. Everyone focuses on the Mexicans, the Cubans, the brown people. Anything from complaints of speaking Spanish, to just over the top racial slurs. THEY are the ones taking our jobs, THEY are destroying our society, THEY are to blame for it all. Let me tell ya, I'm more afraid of the illegal Canadian immigrants. They speak English, they are more likely to be the 'correct' color of skin. They fit in seamlessly. But you never hear about them. It's alway hatred for anyone who isn't white. (Fun fact: in Utah, if you have brown skin you are automatically Mexican.)

Well I've been rambling, and this post hasn't been well put together, but I wish to leave with a great quote from a national icon, The Statue of Liberty:
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

What the Corporate media wants you to think..

I was planning on posting on my annoyance with the left tonight. Yes, the left is not immune to criticism on our proud project here. However glancing thru today's news pissed the hell out of me so I want to elaborate on how the so called "liberal media" is not , is not, is not liberal!!

On every single news site today, every god damn site! See for yourself! Two things stand out with regards to our presidents deficit reduction plan. Now keep in mind, THIS IS HUGE AND IMPORTANT TO OUR COUNTRIES FUTURE WELL BEING!...Okay so two things..

  1. omg! Vice President Biden fell asleep during obama's speech today
  2. Obama's plan inlcudes TAX HIKES!!
Okay, so...this is what the corporate media is trying to sell to the public; That Biden is dumb, Obama is boring, and your taxes are about to go up! This is what the general public will see from Obama's plan today. Then they'll be polled(oh how the media loves the polls) and people will say,"oh god! that obama plan is awful! I disapprove!

Now if the media were sooo liberal why would they be selling this to us? When if you actually research and study his plan you'll see that's it's a very moderate, reasonable, tough yet fair plan. When all is said and done media outlets are driven by one thing and one thing alone...RATINGS!

That's all they care about, is dumbing you down, pissing you off, leaving you hopeless so you'll come back and make sure the world hasn't ended yet and they'll get their precious RATINGS! If the media were truly liberal they would focus entirely on fact and not rely on commercials and advertizements to sell you shit!

Anyways, I want to thank our few followers we already have. I'm glad your with us, I really am! Please tell your friends and family or anyone you think would be interested in what we're trying to do here. Were in the very beginning stages of our quest of truly giving liberals a voice! We have so much planned for you all and I promise if you can bring us more followers, I will, and I know the Reverend will do everything we possibly can(we'll put our hearts and souls into this) to make Red Town Blues the place to come for information on daily events, thoughtful opinions, damn funny sketches, movie and video game reviews, and so much more than I can put in a paragraph. Were only gonna get better and better at this!!

Tax Rates

Today the President announced his plans to cut into the national debt. Of all his proposals, one seems to have made a huge uproar in the GOP. Tax increases.

They are making it sound like it is tax hikes for all, that we will all be taxed into the ground. But that's not the case. He is proposing to cut the Bush era tax cuts given to the rich. Every household that makes over $250,000 a year, the top 2% of earners, will have those tax cuts removed. "Boohoo!", cries the GOP, "It's not fair to tax the wealthy, it will hurt the economy! They are the job makers! We can't punish the successful!".

That's all bullshit. What isn't fair is expecting the those most unable to pay to carry the country, while the rich take a free ride. If they are business owners they already have so many tax loopholes that they effectively pay nothing. If they are simply wealthy, or successful, we aren't trying to punish them. We are just asking them to carry their fair share. We can't cut programs that help the less fortunate, then decrease the taxes for the wealthy, and claim Mission Accomplished. Unless that mission is to cut the foundation of the country out from under us, and allow the rich to get bloated off of our overworked, unmedicated, emaciated corpses.

Personally, I like his plan. I think it's at least a step in the right direction. It seems realistic, and it is certainly better than the GOP's plan of 'cut everything the populace needs, then expect the country to run the same way it once did'. I also applaud him for not allowing budget cuts to essential public services, "That's not right and it's not going to happen as long as I'm president," He said. Here is hoping he can get it all approved.

THIS IS A LIBERAL BLOG!

This is a dream come true for me. Growing up I always felt that I wasn't quite the same as most of my friends. The Bush/Gore elections and then the events of September 11, 2001 made me look at society and politics as a whole. As I payed attention more than ever in my life at that point I realized that I tended to agree with the democratic party over President Bush and his party.

THIS IS A LIBERAL BLOG!

I knew I was a liberal especially after meeting my girlfriend(now wife) Who also held liberal beliefs and that was the first time that I felt it was okay to be liberal. It did however usually suck for me because all my friends from different jobs were either uninterested in politics or they were conservative. It wasn't until recently that I met another guy who was pretty like minded.

THIS IS A LIBERAL BLOG!

Recently I've had to work one full time job and another part time Saturday job just so me and my family can still fall short three to five hundred dollars a month. I met the young Reverend at my Saturday job but didn't find out he too was a liberal minded individual like me for nearly a year of working with him. I literally had no clue how to react(I'm used to playing down my liberal beliefs as not to disturb my fellow Utah citizens.) As I got to know the reverend I realized that he was well spoken, smart, funny, and had a lot to say, like me.

THIS IS A LIBERAL BLOG!

So I figured we should team up, and say what we want to say. And give voice to those who feel that there voices are drowned out by today's corporate media! This blog will be aggressively and unabashibly liberal. If you don't like it, get out now, if you like it, I'm thrilled!

Meet the authors episode 2: Virgils revenge

Nostradamus, The Maya, and Ancient Hindu transcripts all proficized his coming. Though his name was never directly mentioned, one of the Nostradamus quatrains read as follows,"And there will be fire, and flood, and pestilence; and Virgil will be henseforth unappeased."

Through the ages his name was but a whisper in shadowy villages or something. Virgil fell from the sky on what many described as either a large asteroid, or a collection of spaceship waste.

Either way, he has arrived, and has reportedly teamed up with the infamous(and handsome) Reverend! Together their quest for world domination and free cookie samples is nearly unstoppable! You're all doomed unless you join them!!!!!!!!

Meet The Authors, Part 1:The Reverend

Born to a not-so-chaste nun under the light of a planetary alignment, The Reverend always assumed he was meant for something great. At the tender young age of 2 he left the nunnery on a motorcycle to find spiritual well being. And chicks. After years of roaming the countryside and sewers of suburbia he finally found his true calling as an internet blogger.

The Reverend stands alone (with lots of other people) in his fight against the illogical, idiotic, and stupid. He openly questions religion, faith, and political policies. Many have described him as 'Awesome, Liberal, Fun, Antagonistic, and Handsome!' (citation needed).

The Reverend hopes to reach out to people and educate them on critical thinking and human compassion. He wants to have an open dialog with people who have different opinions. He also is looking forward to learning new things and experiencing more of this human condition.

Welcome To It!

Virgil and The Reverend would like to welcome all to our new blog! We will be posting on politics, religion, and geek culture. Current events will be our main focus, but the arts and life in general will also be covered. We aim to give voice to the voiceless, make insightful political commentaries, and occasionally make you laugh. We encourage a discussion-type atmosphere and only ask that you remain civil. We are all for a difference of opinions, but that difference doesn't justify personal attacks. We really would appreciate having people join in the discussion of whatever topics we post, and we thank you in advance!

Thanks, and keep checking for updates!
